Fighting Defensively is an Ability in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Abilities are usually class-specific, however, rarely some Abilities can be found in 2 or more Classes.
You can choose to take a -4 penalty on attack rolls Attack Rolls and Combat Maneuver checks to gain a +2 Dodge bonus to your Armor Class. If you have three or more ranks in Mobility, you gain +3 Dodge bonus to Armor Class instead.
Fighting Defensively Information
- When it applies : the AC bonus is applied only after the character/creature attempts an attack with a weapon, whether melee or ranged (not a magical effect or spell), and it will last one round. If no attack is made the next round, the bonus will no longer be applied. This is also the rule in the pen-and-paper game.
- Dodge bonuses to Armor Class are lost any time you lose your Dexterity Bonus to Armor Class (when Flat-Footed, held, prone, paralyzed, sleeping, etc.).
- All characters and creatures in the game can use this combat option.
Fighting Defensively Tips & Notes
- The Crane Style Feat reduces the attack penalty to -2 and adds an extra +1 Dodge bonus.
- The Crane Wing Feat increases the Dodge bonus to +4.
- The Dodge bonus to AC stacks with any and all AC bonuses. Dodge is an exception to the normal rule where bonuses do not stack.
